A wide range of popular antibiotics including Cipro and Levaquin have been linked to an increased risk of tendon ruptures, tendinitis, and other serious injuries and conditions, including blood-sugar abnormalities such as hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia and diabetes.
Patients who have taken these common antibiotics along with steroids - another common prescription - appear to be at especially high risk.
If you have taken one of these antibiotics and suffered an injury, please contact us as you may have legal rights against the drug manufacturers.
These drugs, all part of the fluoroquinolones family of medications, are used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including those involving the lungs, sinuses, and skin, as well as other common conditions.
Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro is a national law firm with extensive experience in drug litigation such as this. People who have been injured after taking a fluoroquinolone may have legal rights and may be eligible to be compensated for medical expenses, lost wages and for pain and suffering.

People taking these drugs have reported ruptured tendons immediately after taking the antibiotics; however, it can take as long as a week for a rupture to occur. Some patients report no symptoms before the rupture, while others report swelling or bruising. Patients report ruptures of Achilles tendons, rotator cuffs, and tendons in the arms or hands. In many cases, the ruptures require surgery to repair the damage, often resulting in weeks or months of rehabilitation.
