A bad year for Japan Inc. got worse last week after Subaru Corp. joined Nissan Motor Co. in saying it was recalling cars that were signed off by uncertified vehicle inspectors. The revelations follow Kobe Steel Ltd.’s admission that it cheated on quality control tests and Takata Corp.’s bankruptcy filing following its airbag debacle. Investigation reveals there are more than 2 million used vehicles on the road across Ohio with unfixed safety recalls that are not required to be disclosed to potential buyers.
Many of these wind up on used car lots across the state and if not disclosed, buyers can purchase vehicles that could potentially catch fire, cause airbags to explode, and cause power steering and brake failure. read more »
Canada helped the U.S. investigate Volkswagen, but has yet to take legal action
Environment Canada official says the investigation will likely continue for many more months, two years after the probe began.
Two years after Canadian government testing helped the United States go after Volkswagen for faking the results of diesel-engine emissions tests, Canada says it is still unable to determine if Volkswagen broke the law in this country.
