National Law Journal: Major Players in Real Estate Title Industry Hit by Suits

This week the National Law Journal published a story about Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro's recent lawsuits against four of the nation's largest title and escrow companies. The article highlights the allegations against the companies and details some of the most severe offenses relating to reconveyance practices.

In the article, managing partner and lead attorney Steve Berman calls the title insurance industry 'completely nontransparent' making it easy for companies to overcharge consumers without their knowing.

The lawsuits filed by HBSS question the practices, charges and fees of four title insurance companies and the way reconveyance charges are processed and stated to customers. The companies in question include Chicago Title Insurance Co., Fidelity National Title Co., First American Title Insurance Co., and Old Republic Title.
