103 Uber drivers accused of sexual assualt or abuse

Uber continues to find itself in the spotlight over troubling safety incidents. The company says safety is its first priority, but it has a long way to go to prove it.

An April 2018 CNN investigation found that 103 Uber drivers in the US have been accused of sexually assaulting or abusing their passengers.

And the safety complaints are still coming. A woman who says she was sexually assaulted by an Uber driver in Washington, DC is suing the company for $10 million.

Arizona Lyft driver charged with kidnapping, sexually assaulting passenger

A rideshare driver has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a passenger after dropping her off at her Maricopa home early Sunday morning.

The Maricopa Police Department says Rayan Jarjes picked the victim up at a friend's house around 3:15 a.m. local time to take her house located about nine miles away. However, the ride lasted thirty minutes and included two stops.

During the ride, police say Jarjes talked with the victim about how hard it was to find the right person for a relationship before pulling over at several points in the trip to sexually assault her. read more »

Woman sexually assaulted after trying to hail ride-share

A 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man she thought was her ride-share driver Saturday morning in the Lincoln Park community on the North Side.

She got into a gray SUV that she believed was a ride-share vehicle she hailed and fell asleep during the drive. When she woke up about 1 a.m., the male driver was sexually assaulting her inside the vehicle parked in the 1200 block of West Schubert Avenue, according to Chicago police. read more »
