Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed 16-year-old girl, lawsuit alleges
A newly-expanded civil lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein alleges that the disgraced movie producer sexually harassed a 16-year-old girl.
The new court documents state that the unnamed teenager moved from Poland to the US in 2002 with hopes of becoming an actress.
The lawsuit alleges that Weinstein took the teenager to his Soho apartment where he "aggressively and threateningly" demanded sex.
Jane Doe, one of 10 named plaintiffs in the class action, was able to leave the alleged encounter - but lawyers say she “endured nearly a decade of sexual harassment and emotional abuse” afterwards. read more »
Google Walkout: Employees Stage Protest Over Handling of Sexual Harassment
Employees at Google offices around the world held a wave of walkouts on Thursday to protest the company’s handling of sexual harassment.
The walkouts, which started in Asia and spread across continents, were planned for around 11 a.m. in their time zones. Protests were expected through the day in Google offices in the United States. read more »
New York Bishop Is Accused of Sexual Abuse
An auxiliary Catholic bishop in New York, John Jenik, has been accused of sexual abuse and removed from his public ministry, Catholic officials said.
“Although the alleged incidents occurred decades ago, the Lay Review Board has concluded that the evidence is sufficient to find the allegation credible and substantiated,” Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, the archibishop of New York, said in a statement Wednesday. read more »
