Date Filed: September 13, 2007 Court: U.S. District Court Location: California
Recent news concerning recalls by Mattel of many of its toys has created a great deal of fear and uncertainty by parents whose children play with these toys.
Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro (HBSS) is active in representing the interests of parents and children in defective toy cases. HBSS is currently lead counsel in the lead paint litigation on behalf of parents and their children related to the Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway Toys litigation.
As part of the firm's work in this area, we have also been investigating how Mattel has been handling the recalls related to its Fisher Price division, including the recalls of Sesame Street Toys, its Dora/Diego line, and certain toy cars.
Today, with the recall being expanded for the fifth time - now to include Barbie accessories -- we have reason to suspect Mattel may not be acting in the public's best interests. Among other concerns, we believe Mattel's drawn-out recall notification process may be moving too slowly to safeguard children playing with the suspect toys.
If you or someone you know owns one of the toys on the attached recall notices and is willing to share their story with us, it would greatly help us in continuing our investigation. Please have them contact lead investigating attorney Beth Fagan beth@hbsslaw.com or Ivy Arai at ivy@hbsslaw.com.
