>Avvo.com Class Action
Date Filed: June 14, 2007
Court: U.S. District Court
Location: Washington

HBSS filed a proposed nationwide class action lawsuit against Avvo.com, the recently debuted Web site that rates attorneys.

The Web site proposes to help consumers find an attorney and allows site visitors to view ratings of each attorney on a scale of 1-10. Profiles also include client and peer reviews as well as detailed histories, awards and events attorneys have attended.

Many attorneys have expressed disapproval of the site and believe the methodology used to generate ratings is deceptive and not based on any valid criteria.

Seattle Post-Intelligencer reporter, John Cook, dedicated his column to the site and potential suits earlier this week. Please click here to read the full article.
