Several parents came to Hagens Berman with complaints against Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) for allegedly offering personal care products for infants and children with traces of carcinogens and harmful chemicals. The lawsuit filed by Hagens Berman in the U.S. District Court in Oakland, Calif., charges the health and cosmetic giant, Johnson & Johnson, manufactures several baby bath products with dangerous toxins and markets them safe for children.

Johnson's Baby Shampoo is one of many baby bath products that allegedly contain contaminants such as 1,4-dioxane, formaldehyde and phenoxyethanol. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns that some of these ingredients can be harmful to humans, and the Consumer Products Safety Commission indicates that even the smallest traces of 1,4-dioxane have been shown to cause cancer in animals.

Johnson & Johnson is also charged with falsely promoting these products as "gentle," "hypoallergenic," "dermatologist-tested," or "pediatrician recommended" for children. Parents are asking the Court to order Johnson & Johnson to ensure all its personal care products for children are safe and free of harmful chemicals and contaminants.
