Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro filed a class-action lawsuit against Sprint claiming the company's practice of charging consumers a late fee of five percent of the outstanding balance violates California consumer rights laws.
The lawsuit alleges Sprint wrongfully collected tens of millions of dollars by charging consumers late fees for any payment received after the due date specified on bills.
Plaintiffs allege Sprint's late penalty fees charge customers substantially more than the damages actually caused by the customer paying late.
The lawsuit seeks to represent all California consumers who purchased a Sprint cellular plan and paid a late fee.
