Hagens Berman is investigating a manufacturing defect and false safety claim made by Britax in regard to its Harness-2-Booster car seats, which place children at grave risk of injury in the event of a car crash. We believe parents, grandparents, guardians and other caretakers deserve compensation for their purchase of a product that fails to perform as promised and places children in danger.

AFFECTED PRODUCTS

  • Britax Frontier ClickTight Harness-2-Booster Seat
  • Britax Pioneer Harness-2-Booster Seat

According to reports, since at least 2015, Britax has known about a safety defect wherein the structure surrounding the harness and top tether of its Harness-2-Booster seats are capable of detaching in a moderate-speed car crash, leaving a child without an upper torso restraint – a critical safety function of any children’s car seat.

In spite of this knowledge and a failed 2019 safety test which noted that the defect could cause children to be ejected from their car seats, Britax continued to sell these products and falsely market them as safe.

BRITAX FALSELY CLAIMED ITS CAR SEATS WERE SAFE

In the packaging for its car seats, Britax claims that its Harness-2-Booster models “offer varying levels of side-impact protection” that “surrounds your child’s head, neck and torso.”

But this claim is not based on testing, and footage from a crash simulation involving Britax’s Frontier Harness-2-Booster seat shows the head of a child mannequin slamming into a car door when this so-called “safety feature” is supposed to protect your child.

YOUR CONSUMER RIGHTS

Hagens Berman is seeking reimbursement for anyone who purchased a Britax Harness-2-Booster car seat. Parents, grandparents, guardians and caretakers across the nation assumed these seats would keep children safe in the event of a car crash. In fact, kids’ lives were endangered as a result of a potentially lethal safety defect that Britax knew about but failed to acknowledge. Britax also advertised its car seats as boasting a critical safety feature that, when tested, was proven to be not only ineffective, but dangerous. Our firm believes that consumers deserve compensation for Britax’s pattern of deception and the potential for injury it exposed children to.
