Rob Lopez has practiced at Hagens Berman since 2004. He brings to the firm a broad range of legal experience, having practiced in the fields of complex commercial litigation; franchise litigation; intellectual property litigation; employer-employee litigation; creditor-debtor litigation, including the defense of complex adversary proceedings in the federal bankruptcy court; and eminent domain litigation. In addition, he has prosecuted and defended appeals in the federal and state courts of appeal. He also has advised clients with respect to trademark, trade-name, copyright, and Internet-communications law.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Lopez has worked on various teams representing institutions and consumers in nationwide class-action lawsuits, including in the federal multidistrict litigation setting. Representative suits include the massive Average Wholesale Price matter and In re: Epogen and Aranesp Off-Label Marketing and Sales Practices Litigation, where defendants were some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers. He also was a member of the firm’s teams representing securities owners in In re: Metropolitan Securities Litigation and In re: Charles Schwab Corporation Securities Litigation. Further, he has represented NCAA Division I walk-on football players in antitrust class-action litigation against the NCAA.

In addition, Mr. Lopez has worked on class-action litigation against DaimlerChrysler Corporation relating to product defects in its Neon automobiles, as well as on a proposed nationwide class-action case against Trex Company, Inc., relating to defects in its decking products. Additionally, he works on the team representing the plaintiff and proposed nationwide class in a suit involving massive numbers of defective Dell computers.

Mr. Lopez also has worked—and continues to work—on qui tam matters at the firm, representing whistleblowers in cases involving violations of federal and state laws that prohibit the making of false claims for government payments.

Prior to joining Hagens Berman, Mr. Lopez was a founding member and shareholder of the Seattle law firm Socius Law Group. Before that, Mr. Lopez was a partner at the Seattle law firm Betts, Patterson & Mines.

Mr. Lopez graduated from Gonzaga University, where he was an Arnold Scholar, with a bachelor's degree in English Literature. He received his law degree from the University of Washington.

Mr. Lopez is admitted to the bars of the federal and state courts in the state of Washington. He also is admitted to the bar of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
