Ms. Scarlett is a partner at Hagens Berman’s San Francisco Bay Area office where she specializes in the prosecution of complex class actions, including securities fraud, consumer protection and privacy rights violation.
Ms. Scarlett is one of the team of litigators representing indirect purchaser plaintiffs in the In re Optical Disk Drive Antitrust Litigation, alleging a price fixing conspiracy to fix the prices of optical disk drives through the United States, in violation of federal and state antitrust laws. Ms. Scarlett also is the lead class counsel in Pecover v. Electronic Arts, Inc. which she was instrumental in guiding the case through class certification with the application of California antitrust and consumer law to a nationwide class. Ms. Scarlett was also one of the team litigating the In re eBay Seller Antitrust Litigation, alleging numerous violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act by online auction giant, eBay. She also has an ongoing and active role in several consumer protection matters against several wireless providers, including Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA and Sprint/Nextel alleging a variety of unlawful and unfair billing practices. Ms. Scarlett has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, including recently in Kaing v. Pulte Homes, on behalf of class members who allege they were injured by Pulte’s deceptive mortgaging and sales practices. Ms. Scarlett also has extensive experience representing shareholders in securities matters throughout the country. Ms. Scarlett has represented investors against defendants in a variety of industries, such as pharmaceutical manufacturers, (In re Impax Sec. Litig., In re CV Therapeutics, Inc., Sec. Litig., In re Alkermes Sec. Litig.), Internet companies (including In re Verisign, Inc. and In re Northpoint Communications Group, Inc. Sec. Litig.) and other manufactured products (Ryan v. Flowserve Corp.). Ms. Scarlett graduated with a B.A. degree from the University of British Columbia and received her law degree from Stanford Law School. She was the Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review and Co-Chair of the Women of Stanford Law. Ms. Scarlett continues to mentor young women who are interested in pursuing a legal career. She also has received the prestigious Super Lawyers Rising Star Award in Northern California for 2009, 2010 and 2011. Ms. Scarlett is admitted to the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before all federal courts in the state of California, as well as the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. |
