Mark S. Carlson is of-counsel in the Seattle office of Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro where he is part of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Carlson has been working in intellectual property since 1987, handling a full range of intellectual property litigation with a focus on patent infringement disputes.

Mr. Carlson’s notable cases include Airbiquity v. AT&T, et al. in patent infringement litigation; Timeline v. Microsoft in technology license and patent litigation; The Nautilus Group in several patent and trademark disputes; Ossur Holdings v. Bellacure in trade secret litigation; and Pacific Market International v. Thermos in a trade dress action. Mr. Carlson is currently representing Survey Analytics in patent infringement litigation regarding wireless customer survey and information technology in the Eastern District of Texas.

Mr. Carlson is experienced in technologies including wireless handsets and networks, telematics and wireless services, electronics, software, relational databases and data mining, Internet search engines, games, medical devices, and mechanical exercise equipment.

Mr. Carlson is an active member of the legal community. He frequently makes presentations to legal forums and industry groups on intellectual property law. He is an active participant in the Seattle Intellectual Property Inn of Court. He has also been published in the American Electronics Association Newsline regarding the privacy of personal data, as well as the University of Puget Sound Law Review.

Prior to joining Hagens Berman, Mr. Carlson operated his own practice, The Carlson Law Group. Before that, he practiced in the Patent Litigation Group of Dorsey & Whitney. Prior to that work, he was a partner in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group of Bogle & Gates.

Mr. Carlson received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Washington, and earned his law degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law, where he graduated cum laude.
