Daimler recalls 744,000 U.S. Mercedes-Benz vehicles for faulty sunroofs

German automaker Daimler AG said on Saturday it will recall 744,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the United States from the 2001 through 2011 model years because the sunroof glass panel could detach and pose a hazard.

Last month, Mercedes-Benz USA agreed to a $20 million civil penalty over its handling of U.S. vehicle recalls after a year-long U.S. government investigation into 1.4 million recalled vehicles. read more »

Hyundai, Kia issue recalls – more than 300,000 cars affected

Hyundai Auto Canada and Kia Canada have both issued a recall that affects over 300,000 vehicles in the country.

The recall – or as the automakers claim, a “product improvement campaign” – affects vehicles with natural aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder engines and turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines. The two automakers will perform an engine control module update on the affected vehicles to ensure that they can detect potential issues before any engine failure can occur. read more »
