How carmakers stack up when it comes to recalls
Porsche averages the fewest recalls and Volkswagen the most. Tesla is the most timely in issuing recalls and Mazda the slowest. These are among the findings of a new study by website iSeeCars.com, which looks at long-term auto company recall performance.
The study used data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration from January 1985 through September 2016 to look at three measurements of a company’s recall record.

GM Ignition Switch Supplier Can't Dodge Subpoena
A New York federal judge on Monday denied a bid by the supplier of the allegedly faulty General Motors ignition switches to dodge a request for additional information by drivers in multidistrict litigation over the issue.
In a short, paperless order, U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman denied nonparty Delphi Automotive Systems LLC's motion to quash a Sept. 29 subpoena from the drivers. Judge Furman said he would allow the drivers to take deposition from a witness from the company, "substantially for the reasons" submitted in a Oct. 26 letter from plaintiffs' lead counsel. That letter, which was partially redacted, said they had good cause to depose the company since they couldn't meet an October 2015 deadline for discovery related to 11 different recalls, despite their best efforts. read more »
