U.S. regulators open probe into brake issues on Ford F-150 trucks

U.S. vehicle safety regulators have opened an investigation into complaints of brake problems in an estimated 282,000 recent model year Ford F-150 pickup trucks, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its website on Tuesday.

There have been 25 consumer complaints that include claims of "a sudden and complete loss of brakes," the agency said. The vehicles affected are the 2015 and 2016 model year F-150s that have 3.5-liter engines.

Don’t Slam The Door: Nissan Versa Air Bags Might Inflate

The government is investigating complaints that side air bags on some Nissan Versa small cars can inflate if the driver or passenger doors are slammed to hard.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe covers about 155,000 cars from the 2012 model year.

The agency says it has three complaints that the side curtain and seat-mounted thorax air bags can inflate when the doors are shut, possibly when they’re slammed too hard.

The agency will determine how often the problem happens and decide if a recall is needed. read more »
