Christ Hospital settles whistleblower suit

By Cliff Peale

Christ Hospital has paid nearly $1.8 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit alleging that a doctor was signing off on vascular tests, and charging Medicare, without reading the tests.

It’s the second time in three years the Mount Auburn hospital has paid money to a former employee alleging wrongdoing.

The whistleblower, former Medical Director of Vascular Lab Services Peter Podore, says the tests of as many as 8,000 patients were not properly read and should be reviewed.

The hospital also faces stricter federal oversight after it settled with the Justice Department in late June.
