Percentage of Women Who’ve Experienced Online Sexual Harassment Has Doubled Since 2017

A survey of more than 10,000 people concluded that the percentage of women who say they’ve experienced online sexual harassment has doubled since 2017, from 8% to 16%, as the share of men experiencing online sexual harassment remained about the same.

Women are three times as likely as men to say they’ve experienced online sexual harassment (16% compared to 5%), and women younger than 35 are also three times as likely as their male counterparts to report experiencing sexual harassment (33% versus 11%), according to the results. read more »

Uber appeals $59 million California fine over sexual assault data request

Uber Technologies Inc on Wednesday appealed a $59 million fine by a California regulator in a dispute over whether the company should share detailed information on sexual assault and harassment claims reported on its ride-hailing platform.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) fined Uber in December after the company refused to share the information, including full names and contact information, arguing that doing so would violate victims’ rights to privacy. On Monday, an anti-sexual abuse group also appealed the decision and supported Uber’s “transparency and commitment to protecting survivors.” read more »

Wexner, L Brands Board Sued for Epstein Ties, Harassment Culture

Leslie H. Wexner and other longtime senior leaders at L Brands Inc. were hit with a shareholder lawsuit in Delaware over the Victoria’s Secret parent’s “entrenched culture of misogyny, bullying and harassment, as well as ties to Jeffrey Epstein and other egregious mismanagement.”

The board “did nothing” to address decades of sexual harassment by top L Brands executives, while the underqualified Epstein inexplicably managed Wexner’s fortune—and while the billionaire sex offender apparently used Wexner’s home “for liaisons with victims,” the suit says. read more »
