T-Mobile Answers Call for Change - Is it too little too late?
T-Mobile cell phone users have an important advocate on their side. Bob Sullivan, MSNBC blogger and author of Gotcha Capitalism, agreed with us in his Red Tape Chronicles blog about T-Mobile's mandatory fees. After taking a look at the comments section, it appears many of his readers agree with us as well.
Disgruntled T-Mobile customers affected by the company's stiff text message policies are finally seeing relief in the form of change at T-Mobile. Earlier this week, the company announced that customers could finally disable the text message function on their T-Mobile phones.
Is the move by T-Mobile too little too late? We think so.
Could this be the company reacting to the lawsuit recently filed by our firm? It's no coincidence that T-Mobile decided to change their policy just one week after their attempt to throw out the suit was denied.
During this past week several blog postings, including the Seattle P-I's Consumer Smarts blog, online discussions and articles have sprung up regarding the issue and its fairness, or lack thereof, to consumers.
So in response, T-Mobile says that the company does offer the ability to block chargeable text messages, IM and e-mail from being sent to their handsets. However, judging from many of the comments from blog posts, this "change" is still questionable.
One thing that has not changed is the fact that T-Mobile did charge millions of customers for unwanted text messages and so we will faithfully continue pursuing litigation on their behalf.
