Hagens Berman Promotes Five Attorneys to Partner in 2024
SEATTLE — Hagens Berman, one of the nation’s preeminent plaintiffs’ law firms, promoted to partner five attorneys across three of its U.S. offices, recognizing outstanding work in the firm’s class action practices of antitrust, automotive litigation, consumer rights and high-tech lawsuits.
Top Complex Plaintiffs Litigators
- Jeannie Y. Evans practices at Hagens Berman’s Chicago office. She is part of Hagens Berman’s antitrust litigation team that reached a proposed $208 million settlement for home sellers and achieved groundbreaking pro-consumer changes in the way real estate brokerages list homes and earn commissions in Moehrl et al v. National Association of Realtors et al. She has also helped recover more than $181 million on behalf of consumers nationwide in In re Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation.
- Rachel E. Fitzpatrick has helped litigate and secure settlements in some of Hagens Berman’s most significant automotive defect class actions, including multiple lawsuits against Hyundai and Kia, such as In Re: Kia Hyundai Vehicle Theft Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation, In re Kia Engine Litigation, In re Hyundai and Kia Engine Litigation II and In re Hyundai/Kia Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit Fire Hazard Litigation. She also helped the firm secure a settlement offering categories of relief valued at $120 million in In re General Motors LLC Ignition Switch Litigation.
- Michella A. Kras is based in the Phoenix office, where she contributes her expertise in complex litigation to the firm’s high-tech, consumer rights, personal injury and data breach practices. In 2022, Michella was part of the litigation team that secured a $95 million class-action settlement with Apple for Apple’s alleged failure to honor its AppleCare warranties. The judge overseeing the case noted that a $95 million settlement “on an untested theory” was an “excellent settlement” for the class.
- Breanna Van Engelen, based in the firm’s Seattle office, advocates on behalf of consumers and workers in complex litigation, including in antitrust and unfair competition cases. Ms. Van Engelen has played a key role in helping consumers recover more than $270 million from the protein industry in In re Broilers Antitrust Litigation and In re Pork Antitrust Litigation as well as $193 million for poultry processing workers in Jien et al v. Perdue Farms.
- Ted Wojcik has contributed to several of the firm’s significant high tech and antitrust litigation successes via his work at the firm’s Seattle office. He was a member of the Hagens Berman team that reached a $100 million settlement on behalf of Apple iOS app developers in Cameron et al v. Apple Inc., as well as the team in In re Google Play Developer Antitrust Litigation that reached a $90 million settlement on behalf of Android iOS developers.
