The firm recognized their outstanding achievements for consumers, investors and others in recent years and bolstered its growing roster of powerhouse complex class-action litigators.

Top Complex Plaintiffs Litigators

  • John DeStefano practices at Hagens Berman’s Phoenix office, primarily handling consumer, insurance, and antitrust class actions as well as appellate representation. Mr. DeStefano’s recent successes include court approval of $400 million settlement to compensate Hyundai and Kia owners for misstatement of EPA fuel economy ratings. Settlement payments averaged $353 for Hyundai owners and $667 for Kia owners. His notable cases also include In re Pre-Filled Propane Tank Antitrust Litigation, Jim Brown v. Electronic Arts Inc. and In re Swift Transportation Co. Inc. John is currently investigating total loss claims for individuals in car crashes, among other instances of potential consumer fraud.
  • Lucas E. Gilmore represents investors’ rights from the firm’s Berkeley, Calif. office. He is a key member of the firm’s investor fraud team in which he, along with a group of attorneys, financial analysts, and investigators, counsels the firm’s investor clients on their legal claims and prosecutes financial fraud cases against major corporations. He has litigated dozens of securities class actions against the largest companies and banks, and investigates cutting-edge instances of fraud against investors, including matters against Zuora Inc., Sasol Ltd., Vaxart Inc., Aurora Cannabis Inc. and many others.
  • Anne F. Johnson specializes in high-stakes, complex litigation challenging Big Pharma’s antitrust schemes to block consumer access to less expensive generic drugs, as well as mass actions fighting corporate indifference and greed. She does so from the firm’s newest U.S. office in Austin, where she was instrumental in achieving more than $200 million in aggregate settlements for her clients in General Motors LLC Ignition Switch Litigation.
  • Christopher R. Pitoun focuses on consumer-rights litigation and has broad experience representing individuals, municipalities and small businesses in all forms of complex litigation. He focuses on class action at the firm’s Los Angeles office and has recently helped secure monumental settlements for class members. These include BofA Countrywide Appraisal RICO where he was part of a team that secured a $250 million settlement on behalf of nationwide class of borrowers, and Lucy Chi v.
