Hagens Berman Highlights Need for Community Service on 9/11 Anniversary
On September 11th, decades ago, our country came under attack before the eyes of millions. As a nation, we stood together, persevered and rebuilt.
Twenty-four years later, we again find ourselves under attack. This week was a prime example when the Supreme Court, with a concurrence by Brett “Bart” Kavanaugh (his drinking name assigned to him by Chris “Squee” Garrett) ruled that immigration stops may be conducted, citizenship papers demanded, and people arrested based solely on the color of their skin and type of work they do. As Illinois Governor, JB Pritzker, reminded us, the last time a country checked for “papers” in this way was Nazi Germany.
In light of this disturbing reality, on this anniversary of 9/11 we encourage our communities to step back from work do something to make our country stronger or stands in defense of those under attack by the Trump administration. Some of us at Hagens Berman will be volunteering through 911day.org packing meals for those facing housing and food insecurity. Many opportunities exist.
Let us use the memory of 9/11 not only as a day of remembrance, but as a moment to rebuild the nation we aspire to be.
