Hagens Berman’s Steve Berman Receives 2016 Law360 MVP of the Year Award for Class-Action Litigation

SEATTLE – Steve Berman, managing partner and co-founder of Seattle-based Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP has been named to Law360’s list of 2016 MVPs of the Year, awarded for his high-stakes successes and record-breaking class-action litigation.

Berman leads precedent-setting cases and works tirelessly as the unified voice for individuals around the world who might not otherwise be heard in the face of widespread negligence and corporate interests. In the last year, his firm has played a part in securing more than $17 billion in class-action settlements on behalf of its clients.

The award highlights the top five attorneys chosen from hundreds of applicants who “had extraordinary wins and contributed most to their practice area in the past year,” and showcases standout litigators across 38 categories, including class-action law.

“Through our firm’s settlements and successes in the last year, I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to bring life-changing reform to NCAA and youth soccer concussion management and sports law, and helped finalize billions of dollars in relief to consumers wronged by major corporations,” said Steve Berman, managing partner of Hagens Berman. “Being named an MVP in class-action law is an honor and testament to Hagens Berman’s decades of hard work and more to come.”

In his 36-year legal career, Berman has built an undeniable reputation as one of the top litigators in the country for plaintiffs and a champion for consumer rights. Media outlets have repeatedly named him “one of the nation’s top class-action lawyers,” and judges and clients have lauded his determination and tenacity in securing groundbreaking settlements for class members.

Law360’s MVP of the Year award includes attorneys who had the biggest wins and made the most significant contributions to their practice groups in the past year. The publication reviews nominees’ achievements from the last year, including wins at trial or on appeal, successful use of a novel defense and other accomplishments.

Representing plaintiffs in class-action cases with the potential to have a positive impact on protecting the rights of individuals is what drives Berman and the firm each day. Since its founding in 1993, Hagens Berman has stayed true to that goal, and in doing so has earned an international reputation for excellence and innovation in class-action litigation.
