WHAT’S THE ISSUE?

MSC CertificationHagens Berman has filed a class-action lawsuit alleging greenwashing by Amazon based on the true sustainability and environmental impact of fish products it sells bearing the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Certification. According to recent reports, Amazon’s use of this certification misleads consumers. Certified companies or their suppliers’ practices are not truly sustainable and allegedly harm the environment or protected species, according to news and a recent report. MSC has faced scrutiny for being a self-serving organization, and itself admits that greenwashing includes misleading or confusing claims. Amazon claims to recognize the importance of valid environmental claims or certifications on products sold on its website and yet allows what could be consumer-facing misinformation.

WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS AGAINST AMAZON?

Hagens Berman believes consumers have a right to honest information about the products they buy. When those products are marketed, sold and advertised appealing to a buyer’s wish to make an environmentally conscious choice, a company has a duty to provide factual information.  Amazon may have misled consumers in precisely this fashion. The firm’s expert consumer-protection and environmental attorneys are representing the rights of consumers to pay back, as well as methods to apply to law to put an end to Amazon’s alleged misinformation.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DOES HAGENS BERMAN HAVE?

Hagens Berman is one of the most successful litigation law firms in the U.S. and has achieved total settlements valued at more than $345 billion in class-action lawsuits against the world’s largest product manufacturers, high tech companies, banks, automakers and more. The firm also specifically and expertly takes on environmental complex litigation, upholding the rights of our ecosystem under the law and is currently pursuing additional litigation against Amazon accusing it of false claims about the damaging environmental impact of its toilet paper and paper towel products.

Hagens Berman has achieved record-breaking settlements in consumer-protection lawsuits, and your claim will be handled by attorneys experienced in this area of law.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

In no case will any class member ever be asked to pay any out-of-pocket sum. In the event Hagens Berman or any other firm obtains a settlement that provides benefits to class members, the court will decide a reasonable fee to be awarded to the legal team for the class.
