Microwave Handle Defect Lawsuit
Anthony D. Shapiro
- Complaint 02/18/15
A lawsuit has been filed against Frigidaire/Electrolux on behalf of anyone who owns a microwave with a stainless steel handle, due to a defect causing the handle to overheat to burning temperatures.
According to court documents, the stainless steel handle on the outside of many over-the-stove microwaves can reach temperatures of more than 168°F in just minutes when the cooking surface below is in operation, presenting a risk of serious injury to anyone who touches the handle with a bare hand.
The nationwide lawsuit states that Electrolux Home Products Inc. distributed and sold the defective microwaves throughout the United States. The lawsuit calls the handle defect “unreasonably dangerous, as it can result, and has resulted, in injury… including burns to the skin.”
Electrolux was notified about the defect, but has failed to recall the defective product or reimburse consumers, past or present, who have incurred costs related to their purchase of a defective microwave or injuries.
